4th grade Pop Art explosion 2017-18

Night at the Art museum connecting to art history
What did we do in Art this year? Lots of skill building, discussion, observation, and messy wonderful hands on creating!

1-1+ Doodle Grid-Measure and lay out a grid on a square of sketch paper, over the year add different patterns and designs to each square

 2/3/4/5-4 Day of the Dead Foil Skulls –Day of the Dead Inspired Sugar Skull on foil. Sharpies, and pencil. Discussed cultural connections and looked at images and design support material 

6-1 Fall at the lake- Seasonal connected watercolor project, inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keeffe, water pencils, pencil and watercolor paints

7-1+ Event Project-Coffee drinking Mona Lisa/Mona and Joe cut out recycled Starbucks gift cards, organized by color to create the collage. 

8/9/10-3+ Mona goes Pop- Combining inspiration from 2 major Artists, Mona Lisa/di Vinci and Pop Art Andy Warhol, students traced the iconic image of Mona Lisa on clear overhead sheets using Sharpie marker and build a colorful under collage, resulting in images like the graphic work of Warhol. 


11/12-2+ Pop Art Soup- Students design their own soup label inspired by the work of Andy Warhol. Marker and color pencil, building a design. 


Artistic inspirations: Vincent Van Gogh, Classic portraiture of the 17th-20th century, Georgia O’Keeffe, Romare Bearden, Leonardo Di Vinci/Mona Lisa, Mexican Folk Art, Grant Wood, Andy Warhol, Day of the Dead imagery, Pop Art
