Direct Drawing 2nd

2nd grade learned about Lunar/Chinese New Year and some of the traditions.

Following a series of direct drawing instructions they drew an S shape that became a Serpent/ Dragon!

this year Chinese New Year is Feb 12 and we begin the year of the Ox.

A large S shape to make the spine or shape of our dragon

Next add 8 to 12 pair of rib marks, connect the ribs with
muscle lines that are either ( ) or ) (  to create a body shape

Add details such as horns, armor, wings eyes, smoke, teeth and or claws

colored and decorated, these were drawn on black paper for extra drama!

Here are some other fun and inspirational resources, print color and enjoy!
