Part II: Students traced their hand on black paper with open fingers, Using a white crayon or color pencil they extended the fingers into branches. Cut out tree shape and attached to Moon/Sky. Added additional branches as needed to develop the composition.

Introduction to rulers and tracing shapes. A process driven lesson, following direct drawing instructions to create a non objective composition, color added later.

Inspired by Greek and Roman tile work, students created collage paper works using glue sticks, patterns, ruler, construction paper and pre cut paper tiles.

Students created a dramatic sky watercolor/crayon resist inspired by Van Gogh and Turner. Sea Salt was used to add special drama. City silhouette images were added with cut black paper collage, embellishments drawn on with Gel Pens. Inspired by support material of famous Architectural sites around the world. Part of our "It's a small World" theme.
Doodle Grid
Measure and layout a grid pattern-good rule skill practice. in each square draw/create a unique doodle design or pattern. This is a warm up go to project for students throughout the year.

Color blending and color theory, blending to create a value scale. Understand art vocabulary, following a series of directions.

Little Red
Inspired by the classic fairy-tale of Little Red Riding Hood and the Russian Matryoshka nesting dolls. A pattern was used for the 3 main characters.

Magic Carpet
Cut paper project inspired by woven carpets and textiles of the Middle East. Build patterns and use a variety of scissor blade designs. Fun way to evaluate skill cutting abilities and build art vocabulary.
Fall Leaves
Seasonal changes, warm colors using leaf rubbing plates to create free fall leaf patterns. Crayon resist and watercolors.
