Sixth Grade Mastering 2018-19

1-4 Two Fridas Building on knowledge of Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol from 4th grade and connecting to Day of the Dead/ Ancient Cultural traditions of Central America-Classroom Social Studies themes. Students use patterns create stencil like Frida portraits with colorful collage and boarder.





















5/6-7 Circle City- One-point perspective city drawing with pencil add watercolor wash to Black and White city






8 Event Project  
Sunrise Embrace- this “gilded” art piece is a direct tribute to Klimt’s “ the Kiss” complete with glittery robes, stylized background, glass beads, and hand created paper jewels. The students painted and embellished the entire surface using their art eye to create a timeless masterpiece!






































9 Pompeii volcano relief- Discussion of Ancient Pompeii, what is a volcano, what was a typical day like in that time…? Using white card stock students drew a volcano shape, built a relief form using tissue paper and glue, color and details with oil pastels and watercolors.

10/11-12  3-D Clay Artifacts  working with air dry clay, inspired by ancient artifacts, idols and statues students created their own Vase Face, coil or pinch pot,  adding color with metallic paints and glazes.




Extras: Van Gogh coloring pages, perspective coloring pages, and holiday inspired Perspective and Shading- to help students develop skills in shading shapes and forms, and understanding how to create the illusion of space and perspective on flat surface with chalk pastels
