What did we do in Art this year? Lots of skill building, discussion, observation, and messy wonderful hands on creating!

1-1 Start of School Self Portrait-Introduction to portraits: What do I look like?  What are the parts of the human face? What is your story? Pasta permission slips

2-1 Pasta Art Fun – learning about lines and eating some noodle art.

3-1Lines straight lines curvy- continue our study of lines looking at famous works of art for inspiration. Matted work, followed a series of directions, used a ruler.

4/5 2 Color blending pumpkins-Shapes and color blending (yellow and red to make orange). How do pumpkins grow? The Square pumpkin book

6-1.5 Water color paper and painted flowers- intro to water color paints, color blending and creating a flower design details added with oil pastels.

7-1.5 Event Project: Van Gogh Sunflowers Jackson Pollock action painting

8-1 Pastel Penguins - Chalk pastels on black paper, tracing a shape. Discussion about penguin habitats

9/10 Red Rectangular Robots- 2 Part project, following a series of directions, adding details, construction paper, crayons and embellishments- What is your Robots Job or Special Skill?  Primary colors

11/11 Model Magic clay snails- color blending and building a coil shape with clay

12+-1 End of the year wrap up- cutting out leaves with name labels for pumpkins, flowers and snails
